This week Patrick and Kat take a break from their busy Halloween schedule to celebrate 2 Years 2 Furious. Can you believe it, two years of A Very Special Podcast? Anyway, this week they dialed in their pal Steven DiFiori to discuss the first episode of the short-lived late 1990s NBC soap opera, Sunset Beach, produced by the amazing Aaron Spelling.
It’s okay if you haven’t heard of it. We’ll take you through the trials and tribulations of Meg Cummings as she abandons her life in Ludlow, Kansas to pursue a strange man she only knows from the internet; and surprisingly gets full support from her mom, wonderfully played by Carol “Cindy Walsh” Potter.
Plus, we discuss the usual soap opera tropes, the drama that ensued amongst the Sunset Beachfandom in 1997, the wild west of the the late 90s internet landscape, and we’ll learn which television show has the worst text message interface when depicting modern day communication between two characters who don’t feel like verbally speaking to each other.
